The floor
About $40 a month if you're out twice a week and nobody scans. Your coffee is covered either way.

Time pays up to $75 a month. Scans and sale bonuses have no monthly limit; each bonus is 25% of what the brand pays, up to $150.

House rules
Do
- Work as you normally do, with the lid open and clean.
- If someone asks, say: “It's a sponsored lid. Scan it if you're curious.”
- Follow venue rules, and close the lid if staff ask.
- Add #ad if you post about it.
Don't
- Pitch, hand out flyers or speak for the brand.
- Scan your own lid or ask friends to. Those scans don't count, and it can end your spot.
- Only check in where you're actually working.
- Don't fake receipts or scans. We check every one, and it ends your spot.
What we see, and what we don't
We see
The receipt photo, two GPS readings per visit, and scan counts on your lid.
We don't
Track you between taps, touch your laptop, or give your name to the brand.
Photograph your receipt and lid, not the people around you.
Who can be a Host
- 18 or older and living in the US
- A US bank account, and an SSN or ITIN for tax forms
- Your own laptop (not a work laptop; employers usually don't allow skins)
- You work in public at least 2 days a week
- A phone with a camera
You're in control
- We pick the brand, matched to you. You can say no to any brand you'd never represent.
- Tell us categories you'd say no to: alcohol, crypto, gambling, politics or dating.
- Stop anytime: peel off the lid and tell us. No fees, nothing to pay back.
Stay safe from scams
- We never send checks, and you never pay us anything: not for the lid, shipping or “training”.
- We only email you from an @storylid.com address.
- We never ask for bank details by email. Payouts are set up inside Stripe.
Taxes, kept simple
- If you're accepted, you'll fill in a W-9 inside Stripe.
- If you earn $2,000 or more from us in a year, you'll get a 1099-NEC.
- Hosts are independent, not employees.

I'm Jesper, known in Denmark as The Danish Mentalist. I work from cafés between shows, and the lid on my laptop kept starting conversations. If your laptop is out in public anyway, you should get paid for what's on it.
